Description
Designed to celebrate the craftsmanship, style and materials of 18th century Andalucian country manors, this enchanting house has four wings forming a cross with an octagonal tower at its core, for 360 degree views of the mountains and river valley. Created with painstaking care, the villa’s floors are in tropical timbers, baked-clay tiles and river pebbles; its walls are lime-washed; reclaimed Moorish tiles form the roof; and huge doors have been rescued and renovated from the ruins of old estates. Innately welcoming social space includes a beamed sitting room with a big log fireplace, a similarly traditional dining room and rustic style breakfast kitchen with a range cooker.
One of five bedrooms, the master suite has a four-poster bed and large en suite bathroom. And outside are covered terraces furnished for lounging and dining, a charming courtyard, extensive gardens of lawns and trees, and a free-form infinity pool in a sylvan setting, with a paved terrace and poolside gazebo bar. Peacefully secluded, La Casa Roja is 11km from Casares and within 14.5km of historic and picturesque Gaucin.
Review
“We have been renting self-catering property in various countries for around twenty years. La Casa Roja is, without a doubt, the most comfortable, picturesque and well provided for so far. Many thanks for allowing us to stay in your lovely home, which we have thoroughly enjoyed.”
