Cypress trees, cedars and ancient oaks, lavender, roses and hazelnut groves fill the private acres of this elegant country house, peacefully secluded in the hills of northern Lazio, within easy reach of Rome by car or train. Catching the breezes in its elevated spot, the estate grounds, extending to approximately 49 acres are glorious, with pergolas and parasols for al fresco living, a gated pool set in a lovely lawned clearing, plenty of space for youngsters to play and cycling, jogging and walking, and the intriguing ruins of an ancient Roman wall. The villa itself has been lovingly restored to produce a house of quality and character, with beamed ceilings and hand-crafted brick floors framing light and airy spacious rooms, styled in most attractive and comfortable country style. In a straightforward and ideal layout for two families, on each side of the house, two bedrooms, each with en suite facilities are accessed through an ante-room with sofa beds for children or young adults. En suite shower rooms are individually designed with flair and artistry, and one double bedroom has a big bespoke bath tub.The sitting room, study, dining room and kitchen with large breakfast table are complemented, at lower ground level, by an enormous, social space, with cool, pale flagstone floor, ‘cinema area’ with large TV, and access to the poolside with table tennis.

The treasures of Rome can be conveniently visited by train from Capranica. Lake Vico is within 3 kms and the surrounding region (called Tuscia) is rich in historic and cultural interest with medieval villages, important  Renaissance villas, glorious historic gardens and the most important Etruscan necropolis in Italy. There are also numerous cultural events such as Tuscia Opera Festival and Tuscia in Jazz to attend. The English – speaking owners who welcome guests are delighted to give their personal recommendations  The staff are available to assist with breakfast and lunch preparation, cooking (hazelnut tart a speciality!), shopping, personal laundry for an additional cost as required. A most comfortable option for those who love exploring different regions of Italy, the villa is also within an easy drive of both the airports serving Rome Airports, and is therefore a good choice for guests flying in from different parts of the world.
