Description
Packing comfort and character into its compact space, this old stone cottage has been lovingly converted since its former use by sardine fishermen. Now its traditional green-shuttered windows sport country-style checked curtains, and a table for two is set under the sill. Air conditioning has been added, space has been created for a simple kitchenette and a little shower room, and, on a platform raised to just the right level, the beds are at window height to see the sea, which gently laps at the edge of the villa’s large sunbathing terrace. A seafront al fresco dining area has views right down the shoreline, and a few steps away is Kalamaki’s long sandy beach, where there is a taverna and beach bar. The beach and Apraos Studio can, of course, be accessed without dipping a toe in the water, with a series of steps leading up from the cottage to road level. While this little gem is delightfully low key, Kassiopi is just 6km along the coast to raise the pace a little, with tennis, water sports, restaurants, bars and nightlife.
