Description
Allamanda is a perfectly secluded rural retreat, set in grounds of 20 acres with incredible views over the Sri Lankan countryside; Adams Peak to the north and the river Gin to the south. With over 200 years of architectural history, it is no surprise this property is rather famous – developed by renowned architect Kerry Hill over the last 30 years– its design is simply stunning and truly unique. The house is set across three spacious standalone buildings, centred around the original plantation house that was built in 1820. Due to the accommodation being split across a collection of building, it’s not a property we recommend for parties with small children. There are five impressive bedrooms, all of which are en suite with a mixture of mountain and jungle views, a number of large living areas and a wonderful dining pavilion designed to seat 20 guests, so it’s perfect for entertaining. The huge 19m long pool is another outdoor highlight at this property, while the kitchen is where the fabulous cook prepares all of our guests delicious meals. While the house feels utterly private and away from it all, UNESCO listed Galle Fort is just 7.5km away for excellent shopping and restaurants, plus the stunning white sand beaches of the south coast are a short drive away.
